Pre Appointment Information

The following information is very important. Please follow all instructions carefully as this will determine the results of your cosmetic tattoo. The instructions are to minimise bleeding during the procedure as blood will push the pigment we are implanting out of the skin and your tattoo will not hold. If you have ANY questions please do not hesitate to ask.

PRE CARE

The day before your appointment please lightly exfoliate the area being tattooed. If you are receiving a lip tattoo it is very important to keep lips hydrated after the exfoliation and all the way leading up to your appointment. 

Avoid exercising the day of your appointment.

The following must be avoided 2 days prior to your appointment:

• Alcohol
• ALL Caffeine
• Aspirin 
• Ibuprofen

The following must be avoided 7 days prior to your appointment:

• Blood thinners (please ask us about any medications you are on)
• Waxing/tinting
• Fish oil
• Vitamin E
• Use of products on the skin with retinol or glycolic acid

Please limit your sun exposure (or solarium tanning) in the 2 weeks leading up to your tattoo appointment. It is very important  to NOT come into your appointment with a sunburnt face. 

Any filler, botox, facials, skin peels and skin needling appointments need to be no less than 4 weeks prior to your appointment. Also please leave a 4 week gap between your tattoo appointment and any vaccinations. 

Cold Sores

If you are prone to cold sores and getting a lip tattoo, you MUST take antivirals the day before your appointment. This is very important as you WILL get one if you do not take precautions. If you regularly get cold sores I recommend taking them the day after your appointment to be safe. If you get a coldsore after a lip tattoo it will scab and that part of your lip will heal uneven. 

AFTER CARE

The healing process takes 4-6 weeks depending on your skin. It is very important that you follow the after care instructions. A cosmetic tattoo is both our responsibilities to obtain a good result. This means you MUST follow the after care instructions properly. 

Brow After care

• Do not wet your brows for 7 days or until all scabbing is gone. 
• Do not touch your brows for 7 days (except when applying after care cream)
• Apply after care cream that you have been provided with 2/3 times a day.
• Apply the balm with the clean applicator that you have been provided. Not with your fingers as they have germs.
• Do not pick at the flakes during the healing process 
• Wash your face over the sink making sure you stay away from the tattooed area
• Do not exercise for 10 days or till all scabbing has fallen off. Excess sweating will push pigment out of the skin

Lip After care

• Wipe and apply ointment as instructed to at appointment 
• No makeup on the lips for the first 7 days
• Do not eat any hot or spicy foods for 24 hours
• Drink through a straw for the first 24 hours
• Do not wet your lips for too long for the first 5 days (do not let the hot water in the shower run on them)
• DO NOT PICK - this can pull out pigment and cause scaring
• Everything that touches the lips in the first 7 days must be clean to avoid infection! 

Keep your cosmetic tattoo out of the sun during the healing process.

After a cosmetic tattoo you must not swim in salt or chlorinated water for 10 days. This is extremely important to have a good healed result.

The true colour of your tattoo will be 4-6 weeks after your first appointment. That is why your touch up cannot be booked earlier than 4 weeks. Please be mindful that everyones skin is different so healed results will vary. 

Brow and Lash Aftercare

Lash Lifts and Brow Laminations need to be kept dry for a full 24 hours after your appointment for best results.
